Green Lakes

There are these beautiful natural lakes that have a green color and are nearly see through. They are called Glacier lakes and there is one in Syracuse called Green Lakes Park. It has a beautiful clean water and a gorgeous ecosystem. 

While you are there, you can canoe. But you need to use the canoes that the park provides in order to protect the delicate ecosystem. If not, you may have a random lady scold you like what happened to me and my husband (at the time, boyfriend) and his five brothers. It was humiliating for us. 

The park also has lovely trails that you can walk on that go all the way around the lake. I usually don't go much past the halfway point. The lake itself is gorgeous and it is accessible for disabled people. The ground is dirt, so it would be difficult for a wheelchair at some points, but there are only stairs in places if you want to be walking on the higher areas. 

Pets are allowed at this park as long as they are on a leash. I would recommend it. In the nine years I lived in Syracuse, I did not go there often enough. But I highly recommend it. 

Lake Eaton and the Wrong way to sit in a canoe.

This is Lake Eaton in the Adirondack Mountains. This is a picture I took while I was there. This was a great trip to take, especially for family trips. You can rent a canoe and paddle around the lake or bring your own. You can see Loons on this lake, on this trip I saw three in one spot.

This is one of the Loons. Unfortunately I didn't get all of his second wing. I would recommend this campsite to anyone who loves to canoe or photograph wildlife. There are plenty of hiking spots around that area and if you drive into Long Lake town you can go to Hosses. This is a very touresty place but you can find some amazing books and things to bring home for friends.  There is also a discount area in which you can find some of the other more expensive things. 

Then there is the most amazing place in the world. Stewarts. If you go there you can get the best Ice Cream that the Adirondacks has to offer.  They come up with their own flavors unique to that type of store. 

I hope that this review of Lake Eaton and the Adirondacks persuades you to go. It is a beautiful place and worth seeing.

Oh, did you know that there is, indeed, a wrong way to sit in a canoe? Well, My mom, myself, and a friend figured that one out.

Something about that not look right? Well, I am sitting where the Back should be. The result? You go in circles. The result of not getting anywhere very fast ends in laughter.

But we had a great time. (= 

Dibbles Quarry or Lord of the Rings Mountain

While we were on a short vacation in the Catskills, Dad had planned a trip for us. He had discovered this place 15 years ago and had never connected it to Lord of the Rings. This place is known as Dibbles Quarry. 

It was a bit of a rough walk for me, my Asthma hated on me for the first few minutes. Once I pushed past that the walk was pleasant. No one really knows who made this place. But let me tell you, whoever built this place has to have been built like a rock. I tried to pick up one about the size of a plate and it was v-e-r-y heavy. Or the person has lots of friends to help. 

The walk up was a little difficult because at one point you are climbing on those rocks that are loose. The way down was worse, but I was stupid and fell asleep on one of those middle thrones. It was also a bit hot outside, so sleeping wasn't a wise idea. I was a bit dehydrated and probably had mild heatstroke. 

This throne had some type of Middle Earth writing on it. Behind my mom and a little to the left of her there is a tall tower that looks like it is supposed to be the Eye of Mordor. We are unsure of this, however. And unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it.

 From the one throne you could see all of this. It was as if you were the king of all you see. It was really quite amazing. It was right on the edge so getting up was unnerving. But once you were by the thrones and/or sitting down it was nice to just enjoy the view.

We decided that these are tables and chairs that a Hobbit would use. There were things like this all over the area. My brothers even found this area with a chimney and some other hobbit sized chairs. 

The chairs are very comfortable and nice. They are perfectly balanced so that way it won't topple over and is very sturdy. And like I said before, comfortable enough to fall asleep in. (=
